035 work

work (or lack thereof) has been an issue lately, so we summoned a house meeting. clearly the divide is showing now, a group of people are working hard to make an art house, and another group of people just wants to live in a punk squat. clear in this was the use of spray paint that we purchased to pretty up the door to ruin some of the awesome stencils we had and write mindless street punk stuff on the walls. i think people forget that not everyone there is a street punk. personally, i don't even like punk that much.
i hope we can clarify that SPCC is a bit more diverse than a punk squat, that its spirit is not just oblivious anarchy, instead a constructive social project. that is key for our legal integration and acceptance by the authorities. if we just let it collapse to a punk squat, it'll be just like most others, something we didn't want from the start.
this is mostly an issue because we have two new residents that weren't discussed. first it was for a night, then two, then a month, now indefinitely. by having them at the place, it will change the balance of the house. we were 5, 1 punk. then 8, 4 punks. now we're 10, 6 punks. the non-punk part of the community, that actually started it, is now a minority. either we make everyone aware of this, or this will become a somewhat enslaving situation where the 4 that want to do something more will end up just cleaning up after everyone else most of the time. that is one of the things me and T feared, but right now, A and L have finally understood what we meant.
the place doesn't have the setting settled yet, so the new people that join it do not feel the spirit of the house yet, therefore assume it's just a do whatever kind of place. it wasn't, let's just hope it stays that way.
