003 first informal group meeting

on 2010.03.02 we met again at the house, O, P, M, S, T and me, for another discussion about what to do. O, P and M are already living there and, as far as i know, it's working out ok.
on arrival i found that the hose had snapped from the hydrant. this indicates poor setup and the water ended up being disconnected again. now we can use this to hide the pipe and to do a proper connection. two main issues: the lack of sealant rubber and a wrench big enough to tighten the big hose parts. these are easy to fix, but since i work during the week it might take a while to get it done.
also, as far as we know, the neighbor issue isn't as serious as we thought, since the house across the road isn't lived in every day. so, instead, every now and then, we suspect there are people there from the CP train company to do some kind of work there.
later, we showed our project and i'd say people enjoyed it overall, though there were some criticisms on how it was a bit over the top, considering the work that needs to be done first. i agree. so in order, here are the main things we found to be essential: 1) fixing the shafts so people don't stumble in when they're drunk 2) closing up all the windows on 3A 3) getting a toilet and water going for 3A and 4B 4) pulling up electricity or setting up the PV system as soon as possible as for the rest of the project, i think i can set up a partial green roof once i move out and take my stuff, but again, can't count on that yet.
some human issues emerged as the hydrant issue was connected with M and P's conflicting opinions on what to do. i talked with both of them, and probably will end up taking charge of the water supply system so that we minimize conflict. anyway, it is only because people don't know each other very well, and in my experience, 3 days of living in is the minimum to start to break the discomfort barrier.
i'm less pessimistic than before, and i think we are all pacifying now. i'm still the member with the most worries since i have a bunch of paperwork and contracts that need changing, resetting and all of that will imply some expenses on my part, which, if SPCC fails, will be for nothing.
anyway, i'm excited about working there, and it's just unfortunate that i can't get days off this week, or i'd be there full on.
