11.03.2010 we got the pink room done. plus gathered some tires for the bed. then the police showed up. i'd say it was planned, since they were 4 with 2 in a car close by and usually they only walk around in packs of 2. they wanted to see who was living there and what kind of plans we had for the place. at first everyone was a bit nervous. i got there nervous too but quoted the portuguese law that protects what we were doing and we all calmed down. we also showed them the place and they liked it. overall, it was great that they showed up during the day, so they could see that we were doing a good job, instead of raiding the place at night with guns. A had to go with them to the police station because she has overstayed and has no visa. in the end being a pretty girl pays off and she had no problems. the police also told us about the fucked up things that go on there. shootings, drug dealing, stolen car dismanteling and told us this fucked up story about a dog being hung for barking at some guys trying out their guns. this really creeped us out, especially P because he loves his dogs so much, so we decided the bottom door was top priority. with all the wood gathered, all we needed now was to put it up.

12.03.2010 we set up the last bit of the pink room, and T, A and L started working on the red one, but had issues drilling the concrete and ended up using the construction glue i had. this meant that the red room didn't go up when i expected, and instead might go up today (13.03.2010). the door is finished, albeit suboptimally, since it is a huge door and the hinges are for small doors. i would like to replace it at some point, but i think it will remain like that for a while (lazyness factor). everyone has been boarding up windows downstairs too, so now pretty much all windows are boarded up. there's no way to get in anymore, which is good, because it means i can start carrying my instruments and stuff to the stage floor. since we have a door now, i made the legal warning like it is done in the UK squats. unfortunately the laws in portugal have no specifics on squatting, only taking over buildings, so i had to dig up the constitution and some obscure articles about taking over land. i also think it is friendlier than the UK one (which i find a bit aggressive). the file is attached to this post. so today, if everything runs smoothly, i'll be sleeping over for the first time!
